Desam’s story began around dinners with friends and family, where Avva’s rich South Indian curries, salan, and biryanis were served. Interestingly, Avva is vegetarian herself, yet she has cooked non-veg meals for her husband for decades, guided purely by instinct and a deep love for flavour.

Named after ‘Desh’, the Sanskrit word for homeland, Desam celebrates the diverse spectrum of South Indian food. From Tamil curries and Andhra-style biryanis to Kerala roasts and coastal classics,


Desam brings together broader, deeper  flavours from the South – ones the North rarely tastes.

With reimagined home dishes and iconic recipes served as solo bowls or sharable feasts, Desam is made for those who crave food that’s bold, layered, and rooted in complex ingredients.

Desam is an extension of Avva’s kitchen. It’s a celebration of home, heritage, and countryside flavours.

South Indian gravies, both veg and non-veg, from tamarind-rich to coconut-spiced. Served with Malabar parottas, biryani rice, or ghee roast dosas.
